BRA 289 differences

Post by simonjrwinter »

Am I right in thinking there was a "MK1" and "MK2" version of the BRA 289? is the MK1 the car with the turned out sill at the bottom?
Anyone got a build manual for a BRA?

I have a "build manual" for a BRA - it is not a lot of good.

All BRAs have the turn out on the cill.
There is a mark 1 which has a circular transmission tunnel and a continuous shelf across the engine bay behind the engine.
The mark 2 was a modification to make the car cheaper to build so the engine was moved back into a big slot cut into the bulkhead and the transmission tunnel is square section. I am not aware of any other differences - but there may be..

Yup to bulkhead and trans tunnel changes. Mk 1 didn't have the front wing side cooling vents either. Not sure about Mk2

On a related note - sort of - anybody any idea of the weight of a Rover engined BRA? I know it will depend on all sorts of things but ball park figure is good enough.

Cheers

My Hawk 289 with Ford 302 and Jag IRS fully fuelled weighs 965kg, so Rover and MG rear should be around the 900kg.
Cheers, Clive.

My Mark 1 has them, we put them in. I didn't realise that BRA fitted them to the Mark 2
