Re: Avon CR6ZZ tyres
They are excellent in the wet in my experience so far. I haven't yet had as much opportunity to drive them hard in seriously wet conditions as I did with the Goodyears, but so far, they've given me no cause at all for concern.

Much better than the Dunlops! To look at the tread pattern you wouldn't think so, but they're outstanding. I can't recommend them highly enough. The sidewalls look exactly right too. And they shine up with the right tyres treatment.CobStang wrote:How are they in the wet ?
Come on Avon... where's my discount on the next set????

My experience is different: When you have heavy rain on a motorway and you are doing more than 50mph the front wheels lift and the car aquaplanes.
Your steering goes very light. When you look at the tread pattern this is clear for me, you only have grooves, there is no way where the water can go to the outside of the tire. That is with rain coming down not just a wet road.

It's a light car Karl. You're probably going to have issues with deep standing water with whatever tyre you have I think.
The Goodyear "billboards" are full wet race tyres and are very good in the wet. I've had no problems in torrential rain when cars around me (on the M25) have been aqua planing. But they're not so good in other areas.

Has anyone had any dealings with this company in Germany?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-175-70-15 ... 2ebc0ee052
They've quoted me 610 Eur for two 225-60-15's & 669 Eur for two 245-60-15's or £943.09, which is cheaper than getting them in this country
Just wondered if anyone else has bought from them
cheers...Nige

Re: Avon CR6ZZ tyres
Hi Alan,
I've got 295's and 245's on mine, but I suspect that 245 front tyres on a 289 FIA may look a little over-tyred. I'd be inclined to go with the 245 & 225 combination on yours.
Do you know if you can actually get 275 tyres under your rear arches?
I think that if you're going for the big tyred racer look, you need some jacking hooks in place of the over riders.
