They look great Alan, and the right choice for the front I think.
Have you been out for a drive on them yet?
Do you know what your suspension geometry is set to?

Subtle change, maybe, but the look is certainly improved! Thumbs up from me!

Hi Alan,

They're brilliant tyres for a Cobra and I'm sure you'll be delighted with them. You need to come to Bruntingthorpe next weekend to test them. :)
It is well worth getting the car properly setup to get the best out of them though and I can thoroughly recommend Center Gravity in Atherstone, Warwickshire. It isn't cheap, but still probably the best value performance upgrade you can get.
The probably should budget for around £300, but Chris will spend hours properly setting it up.

I've used a high density, closed cell foam rather than rubber. I think you'll find it much easier to form into the necessary shapes under the wheel arches and also offer better impact absorption capabilities.

I'll look forward to hearing how you got on at CG.

This stuff's great, I use it a lot for various applications:

http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-132-sa- ... strip.aspx

It's also available in sheet. It's closed cell so won't hold water.
However, I've taken the ACOC recommended route, advised by some of the Ace restorers on that forum. I've used a heavy-duty rubberised stone chip treatment, Terotex 2000, which will get a coat of Dinitrol over it (I am paranoid about the sill (and other) area where the ally simply wraps round the steel tubes, and want to stop any electrolytic reaction here if I can). Obviously if you have a polished body this would not look great, but my car is black so it's not so much of an issue. The general opinion amongst restorers is that Kirkham aluminium is much harder than AC's was, and having played with both I agree. But I know Paul has had an issue with stone denting so we'll see how mine behaves. Having said that, Paul had no protection at all on his at the time (I believe), so I'm hopeful the Terotex will do the job.

You're quite right Roger, it was before I 'd stuck any under body protection on and I ran over some stones at speed and they made dozens of pimples on the tops of the front wings.

The foam I've used is 10mm thick and I stuck it on with good quality exterior grade contact adhesive. Be warned though, once it touches, it's stuck and can't be moved so you need to get it right first time. I therefore recommend numerous dry trial fits.

The Kirkham aluminium is significantly harder and slightly thicker than the original AC bodies.
