Hi
I have a stock Rover 3500 with Mallory distributor and edelbrock 500 carb with offenhauser manifold and a facet red top pump (no regulator) and mgb exhaust manifold.
I have bought a edelbrock calibration kit 1486 but have been advised I need .080" jets and 6252 needles. The jet kit only goes down to .083".
The engine is running very rich !
Can anyone help with what jets and needles I need and also whether the red top is too much pressure for my 3500 engine ?
Thanks

Re: Edelbrock Jets
500 is a bit big for a 3.5, hence difficulty jetting down.
I'm running a Holley 390.
Fuel pump should be fine, assuming your floats are set right and shutting off ok.

Yes I am yet to adjust the floats.

Re: Edelbrock Jets
I'd get in touch with JRV8 in Ballymena NI he builds RV8's and may be able to advise and supply the rods and jets you need.
If you offer to buy the jets off him there's an incentive for him to help.
Edelbrock carbs always run rich out of the box, better than running too lean and melting things!

Re: Edelbrock Jets
These are my settings, I''ve been running a stock R3500 and Mallory distributor for 3 years:
Edelbrock Performer 1404 4-barrel, 500cfm
Primary jets: 1421 (0.080”)
Metering rods: 1441 (0.062”x0.052”)
accelerator pump hole: Middle
Piston springs: Orange
Secondary jets: 1423 (0.086”)
Good luck!

Re: Edelbrock Jets
Thanks Tonyc, RPI suggest those jet settings, what fuel pump do you have and what pressure does it run ?
Re: Edelbrock Jets
According to my records my fuel pump is: Facet Blue Top historic FAC480534 (Burtons)
- but I don't know the pressure. I fitted an electrical pressure gauge but it's never worked properly!
