Jaguar IRS Modifications

Post by jamesmacv8 »

Regarding the shortening of Jaguar (e.g. XJS Type) drive shafts and wishbones - does anyone know the actual reduction in length from the original to the Hawk 289 FIA specification? I know it's not as narrow as the E-Type, but certainly shorter than standard XJS.

I would try Wards as they create most of theJag assemblies for Hawk.

Thanks, I already have details of Ed.

Just wanted to know if anyone on the forum knows the actual reduction in length? I have the chance of bespoke tubular half-shafts, made to a specific length, all balanced etc. Ready to accept Jaguar ends.

I did not want to be cheeky and ask Ed. :-)

It depends on exactly what dimension you need. Several members have Jag rear suspension including myself. Obviously I’m not keen on dismantling anything but I can get out a tape measure if I know exactly where to measure to.

Hi Peter,

Might be hard to measure in car but:

Drive shaft: hardy spicer centre to hardy spicer centre

Wishbone: inner fulcrum centre to outer fulcrum centre

Thanks
James
