Lights LEDS etc

Post by KevinW »

Following a rather good article in the club mag on LEDs I have made a couple of orders with
https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/

Very fast turnaround service, and decent prices - recomended company.

This weekend I will be upgrading my instrument lights on the Smiths gauges to LED, and hoping the visibility will be improved.

Have also discarded the standard Smiths bulb holders that come with flying leads and bought replacement bulb holders with male Lucar spades.
Hopefully this should make the daisy chain wiring a lot neater than the current mess.

I used warm white LED’s to maintain a period look and avoid the excessive white light look. A significant improvement over the filament bulbs. I can actually read the instruments at night now.

I think it was your article Peter I was reading -- I've got the warm white ones as well.

You might want to read my next article on LED headlight bulbs before you splash out on that cost.
Basically it highlights how the eye deals with white light.
It was a fascinating investigation.
