Hawk fuel Tank Threads?

Post by kdavies3 »

Hi all, a quicky hopefully.
Can anyone confirm what the threads are on Gerrys fuel tanks?
I think it's 1/4 BSP.
Gerry will be busy getting home from Race Retro.

BGC Motorsports will know as they supply all the connections in the kit.

They are M14 x 1.5 banjo bolts. I just went through the same issue discovering that the old 1/4 NPT fittings on mine for the last 24 years were incorrect (and leaked).

Thanks Keith.
I bought some 1/4 NPT to AN-6 adaptors, which seemed OK
But I will double check now.

Could this be the cause of the petrol smell in our boots???
Cheers, Clive.

I used the kit supplied by Gerry (from Brian at BCG) along with this stuff https://www.frost.co.uk/brake-pipe-seal-75ml/ on the threads and my boot doesn't smell of petrol.

Theoretically the copper washer should do the sealing. Ironically since changing a suspect hose my boot now smells worse. It had been OK for over 10 years. Perhaps the belt and braces approach will be to use pipe sealant.
