Re: BRA289 customized recreation
Paul, you are correct. A typo by a Shelby employee, converting from pounds to kilos(a very foreign concept for the Yanks!) submitted a weight of 865kg, and that has been the secret behind many of today`s 'Cobras' being so much faster than shall we ay 'less modified' ones!
Some pushed that even further, including the hardtop in the 865kg, but the ratified, homologated weight of a 289 roadster is now 965kg.

Hi Migge,
looking at your photos for inspiration and I noticed you had a hole in the front and rear of the front wheel arch, I presume for the hose to the footwell? Are you planning on running a hose above the front wheel or beside it?

Ah yes, sorry about those. I have some new ones on the way that are still Goodridge ss inside but have black outer tubing.Migge wrote:Ss flexible brakehoses?
About this car - it's not entirely as original. I want to be able to use it, no point in building a museum piece only. But it's as close as I can possibly/reasonably get it. For example, it should have a Lucas dynamo with a cable-drive rev counter, but it hasn't...
...and yes, I know about the 'fake dynamo' alternators, but they don't come with tacho drives. And anyway I have a period-correct Ford alternator, supported on exact replica bracketry and externally regulated with the correct regulator. Which contains modern solid-state electronics.
How did I get onto alternators??
Re: BRA289 customized recreation
thanks Roger, I was wondering if I had room to get a hose through my wheel arch and I was going to try and somehow flatten off the hose. I'm also trying to fabricate the air valve to the footwell (mark 2) - are yours the genuine article per chance? The dax has even less height from footwell to wing....

Re: BRA289 customized recreation
Yes, mine are the genuine article, but they're quite tall as they have functional valves built-in. You could make something up that would do the same job I'm sure.
No need to flatten the hose.
