Peter C,

Yes I want to do a build from scratch (but where scratch is wrt the engine I'm still considering - most likely a rebuilt block with (matching if possible) cast heads) I'm sure I'll make enough errors of my own during the process! I have seen some nice one's for sale though!

I'm putting my costings together, and currently working out what I should be spending on the engine, and where I can best get one from

Chris,
I'll e-mail you separately.

Thanks again everyone!

regards,
Bill

I have just had a 66 289 HiPo 6D13M assembly date coded engine fitted into my 67 AC. It took me a long time and allot of searching to find a good one, so they are out there..BUT its going to cost you a fair chunk of cash!! As for finding a 64-65 5 bolt.. If you want the Look I would go for a standard 289 or 302 as said earlier in this thread. There are plenty of those around. Why go too all that extra expense for parts you can not see and 99% of people couldn't tell the difference or care.
