I was under the impression that the first BRA cars had the 1800cc MGB engine.

They did have a chassis for either 1800cc engines or 3500cc V8, but that was certainly the registration number of the works demonstrator.

I saw what I think was the original BRA 289 demonstrator in Peter Ibbotson’s garage back in 1988! It had chrome wires as per the final picture and larger tyres on the rear. It could be this car if new painted wheels have been fitted - the gauges etc are as I remember and it had a 3.5 Rover engine.

David, I have a photo of the demonstrator somewhere. I will see if I can find it, but don't hold your breath!

I saw it in 1987 and yes it looks the same bar wire wheels were huge chrome ones.
