The cars new decals, embracing the wide arched Modsports cars form the early '70's. All period correct decals for the 1970's STP "Modsports" series

It's nearly time to fit the down draughts to the car. Most people don't seem to fit filters to the carbs, but I wanted to fit 63 mm tall ones to ensure the engine gets enough airflow. However, the hood scoop on the car is too low to accommodate that, so as this is a Modsports inspired car, I guess anything goes, so I made a taller scoop. I have a spare bonnet, so I enlarged the scoop on that one and I'm currently in the process of taking a mould from it. here's the progress so far

Not bad for 5 hrs work, I thought it'd take longer than that

Hi Nige,
Do you use a block of hard foam or plaster of Paris to create the initial shape.
Looks like you have chosen the moulded in and not the riveted on look.
I thought the dellortos were lower than the equivalent Weber’s.
It would certainly be nice to see the completed set up.
I still wonder why they choose to blank off the rearmost cylinder waterway.

Nice evolution Nige. At the Techno Classica Webcon presented a new John Eales manilfold wich is a bit flatter and gives you more space under the hood because it's more centered. For Cobras not the business but for Hot Rods.

Hi Peter, the bonnet is a spare Viper one I've had for a while. The scoop on that is exactly the same as the one on my car, so I've raised it by 30mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear. I screwed some mdf to the top of it first to raise the height and then filled it and sanded it down to get the shape. If I'd fitted the 45mm K&N filters, they would have just fitted under the hood, but they're marginal for flowing air. I've decided to go for 63mm tall filters which should flow enough air according to Eurocarb the Dellorto and Weber specialists. Once the new scoop is laid up, I'll cut the one off my bonnet and then rivet the new one in it's place, with some sign writing on its sides 🙂
Migge, that intake does look nice, but as you say, it's not quite right for a Cobra
