I know some systems benefit from re-coding the fobs to the immobiliser. This is usually done by a series of on-off cycles.

You are not alone, this is a very common problem with those units. Once they go bad they go bad I'm afraid.

I fitted one recently, I have to make sure I push the fob very close to dashboard.
I think the glass fibre dash is quite thick in that area.

I deliberately wired in some 'secret' multiway plugs so that when/if mine goes south I can unplug it and still drive.

Just a thought....as I have a similar unit.:
How have you dealt with the 'door switch' which primes the unit? If this is done incorrectly it wont arm properly.

Today i removed the coil from behind the dash and from round the ignition switch . Placing the fob next to it all worked fine, so as a temporary solution i slid the coil between the dash board and the foam backed leatherette cover and hung the fob over it ,it works fine.hope Mr iva man accepts the fob separate to the ignition key.
Kevin to your door sw comment the system is armed when the ignition sw is turned on and the fob is close to coil all seems to be ok
