Re: Coil breaking down?

Could be the coil but sounds more like like fuel vaporisation which can happen when things get hot.
Depending on what carb/injection you have you can stick an insulating block between the manifold and the carburettor.

Re: Fuel line longevity

Had a similar experience recently with fuel line failing after a short time - pre-ethanol it lasted over 20 years.
Definitely worth checking

Re: BRA COBRA EXHAUST

Over 30 years ago I made the exhaust for my BRA getting straight mild steel tube and cutting out thin sections to make the bends. A mobile welder then finished it and I used a single mgb silencer on each side angled up towards the rear. With the final length of pipe chromed it all looked ok. Unfortu...

Re: BRA 289

I saw what I think was the original BRA 289 demonstrator in Peter Ibbotson’s garage back in 1988! It had chrome wires as per the final picture and larger tyres on the rear. It could be this car if new painted wheels have been fitted - the gauges etc are as I remember and it had a 3.5 Rover engine.

Re: BRA 289 Cobra Steering wheel and column

Tim
The actual column is early mgb, the bottom end of which is clamped into a universal joint which in turn clamps on to a modified shaft from an mgb steering rack.

Re: BRA 289 - and on going the DVLA saga

Good Progress Neil. These people still exist on the internet - http://www.bra-cars.com/html/289.html I believe they acquired BRA but never sold any kits. Perhaps they have some records. After the Peter Ibbotson years I think BRA was owned for a time by a boat builder near Maidstone who made replica ...

Re: Capillary Oil Temperature Gauge

Hi there
Had this challenge several years ago. Ended up screwing the sender into the remote oil filter holder. It works fine and does not have to be disturbed when changing the oil.

Re: Garage flooring tiles

If you mean those soft, black tiles I laid them in my garage a while ago. Weren’t too expensive from Machine Mart.
Warmer and more comfortable than concrete and fairly easy to clean. Only thing is they expand a lot and buckle up if they get warm in the sun.
