Thanks Peter without thermostat it ran 70-80 during summer up to 90 when hot but 50-60 in cold weather which isn't enough to warm the spitfire heater. Now with thermostat it ran 80-85 then goes off the scale quickly and quickly back so I assume air lock just raising front of car took plastic cap off...

Just put a thermostat (with pin hole at 12 o'clock) in my Rover V8 with edelbrock performer manifold as its running very very cold but see why it was taken out. My mechanical water temperature gauge has gone off the scale ! Seems to run at 90 degrees when in the drive and fan on but when out on the ...

I suspect any 3/4" seal will fit try paddock spares landrover parts fixed my girling 3/4" master cylinder for under £4.

Clive probably because few people drive at night....but I was interested in instruments being so dim, did we really drive cars like this ? Bought two bulbs for Speedo and rev counter to try out this weekend.

Talking about dashboard instrument lights does anyone know where can I buy good bulbs for all my instruments and will the mgb dimmer switch still work ? I had a lot of trouble reading my Speedo and any instrument on the way home last night.

Well i find it works if you cover the same area as a gasket and use locktite on the back threads that oil can seep through. I ran a small amount around each screw hole and cut the tube applicator to put a bigger amount down the middle of the sump flange I also added a bit extra around the rear crank...
