I read somewhere that when Shelby was over in the UK in the 70's he saw a Cortina and fell in love with the design , I mean America was producing stuff like Stingrays , Mustangs , Pontiac Firebirds , Gran Torino's , so you can see why he got so excited about Dagenham's sleek machine , maybe he shipped one back to the US and stripped it of all it's high end mechanicals and had a Cobra made specially for the team....or maybe not
Joking aside I hope someone can get it cheaply and do some much needed improvements to it without breaking there bank.

Looks a lot like a cobretti kit they did produce a couple with out the wide front arches.

I thought it would go for around 15K but I guess you have to remember that everyone has different tastes/ requirements.
If you live on Jersey with a blanket 40mph ? speed limit then a 1800 MGB engine is considered adequate.
He or she might have the last laugh with a high mpg.
