What colour?

Post by IainS »

Apologies for not knowing the car or owner, but apart from a very nice looking car, I love the red colour of the nearest Hawk in the first picture on the current home page. I would be very interested to know what colour it is!

Regards

Iain,

I know it is Frank Allen's car but I have no idea what colour it is - I expect he will be on here soon.

regards,

The picture is pretty misleading because it isn't "red" at all. It is more like a rusty brown, which doesn't sound very attractive, but it works very well on the car in real life.

I guess that's why it appeals. Red was the only way I could think of to describe it. As colour choice approaches its a debate at home. Italian racing red is too in your face for my taste, as is the original AC red. Not looking for total authenticity!

'Italian racing red' is actually quite a dark colour - as worn by (e.g.) 1930s Alfas. Love it.

Have to agree with you Roger. Wasn't the red I was thinking of, my mistake. Jag claim Italian racing red for the xkr and others, and that is a contender, I do like it. Ho hum....

Franks colour is a custom mix based on his personal taste so you'd struggle to recreate it anyway :D

Ok well as said I think Franks car looks great. But as its a custom blend I will definately not be attempting to copy it. Back to Italian racing red then
