Nik, it's ok, as you know race cars did have grilles, here's one you might recognise
or maybe this one

I know that these aren't period photos from back in the day, but a lot of the current crop of Cobra race cars do seem to run grilles.

Re: Winter newsletter
I think the difference is having it set back slightly.

Re: Winter newsletter
Hopefully, this might be the last 'hijack' post!
I don't think that the stock 'eggcrate' grille suits the FiA:
But from a practical point of view, no grille is a no-go, so over the winter I was planning on spraying it matt black & setting it back slightly.
Now... Back to the newsletter.... STILL can't wait!

Re: Winter newsletter
Nik, why not knock up the correct style and fit that instead? You can get mesh from many places (Carbuilder solutions etc.), maybe tack a border to it and fit set back. As it is, you appear to have nothing over the oil cooler which looks very exposed, and the heavy slats don't quite look right on a 'race' car.

Re: Winter newsletter
There is a strong mesh over the oilcooler, and the current mesh grille is a nicely made stainless jobbie, (I never got the 'stock' grille, below, with the car), so I'd rather put any expenditure into things like a standard dash, split boot etc...

Another grille with registration number option!
PS Anyone else having problems with Photobucket?

Re: Winter newsletter
Sorry, misunderstood, not knowing the car I have no way of knowing which are current photos and which are not! In the last few it seems to have the 'stock' grille, so I presume that has been removed to make way for the mesh grille in the first shots on the thread. Fine, looks good, keep what it has now!
Re: Winter newsletter
Love the new car Nik; I imagine it was WELL worth the wait!
Can't wait to see it in the flesh - you never know, I might once again be Cobra'd up by that point too, assuming I haven't acquired and disposed of 4 or 5 cars in the interim.
Paul - I'm putting any money from the impending sale of the E Type in the care of a responsible adult, just to be on the safe side.
Unless a nice unmolested Facel Vega HK 500 happens to turn up and then all bets are absolutely off.
Seasons greetings!
