FIA Boot lid swap?

Post by kdavies3 »

Hi all,
I'm just about to start my Hawk Sebring build.
Currently the body shell has an FIA boot with the suitcase ears.
Just thought I'd post here on the off chance that someone out there is looking for an FIA boot lid that they might want to for their standard one?

There’s a very nice chap in the Cardiff area who could just chop your ears off! 😉😆

And I’m sure he would make a very neat job of it too.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, Kev and I have already discussed doing the bodywork and paint, but figured if someone wanted a swap it'd make sense to do that. It's not a big job to cut them off and re-glass it though 😉

Kev,
I, like you, originally wanted to swap my split boot for a normal one. However the cost of a new one (£600+vat) put me off and then I decided I like the quirkinesses of it. I’m not putting a handle in mine but an aluminium escutcheon through which I can insert a square key. More of a faff admittedly and possibly not as secure, but the one thing I wasn’t so keen on is the handle in the middle of the boot.

Assuming no-one comes forward for a swap I'm sure that Nige will help me out with the Vincent VanGough ear removal.

As for the split boot I'll wait until I decide to fit the hard top later on.
