IVA and engine

Post by ske »

seems getting period blocks is quite difficult

is a more sensible approach to use a regular 302 and run it on an injection system to manage the iva emissions?

Hi Ske,
I'm sure there are more knowledgeable members than I on the emissions aspect but the obvious initial comment would be that you will probably need two cats plus exhaust sensors to control the carb.

Prior to 1/8/75 there are no test requirements D4 casting code is OK, D5 needs the age verifying
An engine prior to 1/8/86 is tunable on a carb but gets more difficult as it gets older. E5 and earlier OK, E6 proceed with caution
Post 86 and prior to 1/8/96 pretty much no chance with a carb so FI needed.
Post 96 = cats.
Hope that makes sense
I had an E4 302 go through IVA with a Holley carb recently with no issue

Simon, out of interest what would be your estimate of the cost for the other parts needed. Crank, heads, cam followers , water pump etc etc.

I think it comes as a complete (but disassembled) engine. All looked in good Nick to me.
