Anti Virus Software?

Post by clive »

My Norton Anti Virus is due to expire in the next few days. Can anyone suggest an alternative?
Cheers, Clive.

AVG seems to work reasonably well but all anti virus software slows the PC down, I think the programmers must be paid by line of code, oh no, that was IBM.

Clive,

Depends on whether you want to pay for it and what value you put on internet security. While the free ones do the job to a certain extent they are not as good as the ones you pay for. I recommend Kaspersky Internet security, although not cheap. You can download a trial version here to see if you like it - http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/trials

Here is a review of some antivirus/internet security products http://www.pcpro.co.uk/alist/internet-security

If you intend to buy rather than get the free ones, shop around as you can find quite large differences in price.

Hi Clive,

We use a multi user Kaspersky licence and have everything covered at home. We've had it for a couple of years and have never had an issue with Virus's.

Hope this helps.

Hi, first post but I have to start somewhere!

I use Antivir free personal edition. Used it for many years without any virus issues whatsoever.

I can do just that as I am a IT consultant - I would reccomend that you un install your norton AV, and replace this with a free AV, it goes by the name of avast.

You can down load this from http://www.avast.com - you will need to register and they will send you a key, add it in and activation is done - simple.

You will need to open the av console and set up for what and when you want it to scan. You can also set it to scan you in coming mail
