289 Roadster ordered!

Post by StewbieC »

I've done the deed!
Went to see Gerry (really nice bloke) last week and left a deposit

He's been messed around by a couple of blokes so I can pick up mid October.

Engines finished, donor car's stripped and a photo record taken of all the parts taken, just got to build a flippin car now!

Spec to start is 289 up front, T5, MGB rear axle and MGB underpinnings all round. I know everyone will say "go for Gerry's front end" and hopefully, in time, this will happen.

In the mean time I've got an IVA to plan for!!

Well done that man!
I'm sure you will find it to be a rewarding experience and you will get plenty of help and advice here.
It will also be interesting to see how the IVA compares to the SVA test. Good luck with the buuild.
Cheers, Clive.

Well done! However... they'll also say 'go for the Jag rear'. I've sold both sets of Jag rear axle stuff to folks with MGB axles who've been dissatisfied with them.

After several laps of Zolder Circuit following Dudley (Talon Sportscars) with his MGB live axle on a Hawk Ace (skinny wire wheels), I have to say it hangs on remarkably well. It just goes to show...get the car right and put it in the hands of a good driver, and you'll be hard pressed to make a Jag rear end go quicker. Even me, with my highly customised multi link rear end was really no quicker through the twisty stuff.

Dont be put off by the Jag boys, you go for it Stu.

Then you can't get the ratios... and the c/p wears out...

Roger,
The Jag mod's on my list of future mods.
If I get everything right first time, what excuses would I have not to do the decorating and DIY jobs at home!

There's also the issue with Q plates and I don't want to give them any excuses!

Cheers lads.

Well, you have a point - I built my car 6 years ago and it's still metamorphosing. And it's not the only one.
