Ford 302 “cobra” sumps

The 'Cobra powered by Ford' one may be one of a batch made incorrectly with an increased radius on the rear seal surface. These leave a gap when fitted between the seal and the cast sump, which has to be filled with sealer. I have one of these, and it's tricky to get a good fit, always leaving the potential to leak. Tricky in my car as the engine has to come out to remove the sump...

It does have a fair old big splode of sealer around the rear seal in the photo :roll:

Could it simply be for a 351W?

No, it's a Cobra part and the casting was wrong.
