Re: Forum Login

Post by clive »

I'm still not able to access the forum on my Windows 10 PC without having to enter my details each time. The remember me function still doesn't work.
Cheers, Clive.

Re: Forum Login

Hi all,

Sorry for the extended absence. It has been a very busy couple of weeks work-wise.

The issue seems to be that the forum does not remember certain people's logins and automatically log them in each time. Please correct me if I am wrong. The cause of the problem (based on testing and reading your helpful reports on this thread) is that:

To test this theory out, could anyone who has the 'being remembered' issue give the following a try for me?
  1. Go to www.the289register.com
  2. Check the address bar to see if a padlock appears (indicating your communications with the site are encrypted). See picture:
    Win10.png
  3. Click the Forum link and log in.
  4. Close your browser, and repeat the process
  5. Tell me if this solves the problem
Feedback appreciated as usual.

Kind regards,

Andrew

When I enter the www address it comes up as "Not secure the289register.com/phpBB3/index.php" there is no http: or https in the top bar.

I have finally managed to get it working. I had to delete it from my 'favourites' and reinstall it. I don't know how became corrupt as I've used that link for years.
Cheers, Clive.

Mine is secure with the padlock and remembering me fine.
Although I think when this all first started, I did what Clive did and created a new link without thinking about it.

Just noticed that the forum doesn't show me as a 289R member (which I am).

Ah good news. If that works, I will see if I can get the forum to automatically redirect people who go to the http: address over to the https: one

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Soemthing odd has happened - it seems the webpage cannot remember my logon details as it always sued to. Once I type 'K' the google password holder flashes up the right suggestion. Any reason why the login details are no longer stored?

Hi Kevin, do you have the website in your "Favourites"? If so, delete it and re-install it again. That's how I eventually resolved my issues.
Cheers, Clive.
