Poor quality Lucas parts

Post by peterc »

In a recent magazine article I mentioned that the rolling road engineer had stated that they avoid copy parts as they often cost BHP.
Apparently they only ever use OEM parts and now even avoid Lucas as being sub standard.
I have recent experience of the poor quality now being issued by Lucas. A simple washer bottle bracket was badly made such that the retaining strap for the bottle was 8 mm out of position. See photo.

Purchased from eBay I failed to see the error as the bottle was photographed from the opposite side and I ended up correcting it myself as the seller wanted to charge me to restock.
So word of warning, study the photo very very carefully and perhaps for the want of an extra £10-15 go with a reputable supplier like Holden or SVC who are more likely to change or refund for faulty items.
