Covid Vaccine

Post by peterc »

There is light on the horizon in so much as the boffins feel that they have found a workable vaccine to combat the Covid 19 virus.
So its some good news that Pfizer, who just announced the vaccine for COVID-19 is the same company that discovered Viagra. So I believe we can rely on them, because if they are able to raise the dead, I’m sure they can cure the living.

Haha!

I'm concerned that the stuff has to be transported at -80 degrees though. Making a distribution chain work at that low temperature to an entire planet's worth of people could be quite the logistical challenge. And of course we have the potential for Brexit to introduce delays too.

Probably there are solutions, but I'm trying to curb my enthusiasm and not expect anything too soon.

Lots of vaccines require low temperature transportation although this one is cooler than most, solutions exist. e.g.

I think a lot of the pandemic problems will be eased just after Easter anyway once the sun comes back.

Biggest issue is the Brexit Ports shower, deal or no deal.

The Moderna vaccine only needs minus 20 degrees for storage as opposed to Pfizer's minus 75 degrees.

After it's revealed Dolly Parton helped fund the new Moderna vaccine, scientists confirm it has a 9 to 5 % success rate!

As an at risk oldie I am well aware that the pandemic is serious stuff but I was trying to lighten the proceedings with my first post. I'm glad we have now returned to a more upbeat posting.
