Personally me and my gang about 20 of us, have taken the decision to not book our tickets as we don't believe it will go ahead.
If they move it out to October or whenever I certainly won't be camping as I normally would.
Taken the hassle out of trying to get a refund.

I have just had an email from the organisers ref the Silverstone Classic status. They are in liaison with HM Gov and will make a decision at the end of May.
Options are running the event on same dates but modifying it to meet the requirements of people’s safety ref the virus.
Postponing to a later date or cancelling 2020 all together.
Should the event be cancelled they will allow the ticket to be transferred to next year.
With the other two options the early bird saving will be extended as will the club options.
Personally I can’t see the event being able to be run with so many people in attendance.

I agree Peter, but if it does go ahead in July I think there will be a lot of people decide not to go. I for one would have serious reservations.

Me too, I was all booked up for a weekend. I certainly won’t be attending any “mass gathering” event in 2020

This is looking lees likely to happen now. It looks like Formula 1 are planning a double header to hold two GPs at Silversone this summer. The first to be held on July 26 and a second on August 2 which is the proposed date of the Classic.

I think this is why they've held off for so long compared with all the other events - Silverstone's activities revolve entirely around F1, so they couldn't cancel the Classic outright early on - wouldn't send the right signal - but they can't confirm it until the F1 calendar is sorted, which is looking increasingly bad for the Classic as Clive says. When will these people realize that historics are much more important than F1?

Just had email through. Event cancelled. Full refund or defer tickets until next year.

Yes, it's official, but not surprised to be honest. Hopefully the Club won't be out of pocket.

Yes, as expected I have just had an email to cancel the 2020 event.
Apparently there will be instructions issued during June to allow you to either have a full refund or to roll it over till next year.
Clive, as you wrote the first posting on this you could perhaps amend the title to read - Cancelled as I did for Cranleigh.
Hopefully we will be allowed to meet up in the months to come and perhaps in small groups just locally.
So stay safe guys one and all and I will look forward to seeing you when it is appropriate.
