Lever arm damper rebuild

Post by StuBaker »

Has anyone had MGB front dampers rebuilt with rubber oil seals? In the UK.
My freshly rebuilt front units are leaking already.
I need to keep them going until I can afford Gerrys' tubular set up.
If someone could steer me in the right direction...

Stevsons in Harrow Road Birmingham were renowned s/absorber rebuilders but the guy who ran the place for about 50 years retired/died a year or so back. His daughter is now running it but only the fuel & brakeline side. I think the s/a side was sold to a place in Wales. Give her a call & I'm sure she'll tell you were. Google Stevson Motors Birmingham.
She moved out of the place in Harrow Rd but is not far away.
Cheers
Phil.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for that info.
I've already had them done at V and C Engineering. They did a most excellent job and fitted lipped seals instead of the original type. So hopefully they'll last a bit longer.
I was happy with the finish and cost and turn around was faster than anticipated. They are busy, which is usually a positive sign and quoted three weeks but delivered them in two.
They're in Wales and website is: www.vandcengineering.co.uk
