Does anyone know where I could get a silicone version of my Frankenstein lower radiator hose made up? It has always been a bit leaky and during my coolant change I thought I might get it sorted out once and for all.

Re: Frankenhose
They do, but you have to order 50:
We specialize in custom manufacturing of silicone hoses and original equipment hoses. Unfortunately we are unable to offer this service on one off hoses, the minimum order is 50 pieces. This is because any silicone hoses requires bespoke/custom tooling to be manufactured,

Re: Frankenhose
Hi Andrew, which engine do you have? I sourced TVR parts from ACT for my RV8 then got a couple of nice aluminium connectors made by ProAlloy.
Re: Frankenhose
Andrew, perhaps you should be asking what route and hoses does Gerry or other 302 Ford engined owners use between rad and water pump. There must be a hundred similar cars already on the road with the same set up as yours.
A case of don’t reinvent the wheel!

This is the bottom hose set-up on my Ford 302. Seventeen years and +40k miles still going strong with no leaks.

Re: Frankenhose
Ideally you don't want to run long rubber/silicone hoses on the suction end of the cooling system as the internals of the hose can collapse and cause a restricted flow of coolant. Better using stainless steel or similar if possible.

Re: Frankenhose
Is it actually the hose that's the issue??
To give the best chance of a leak free union, all large diameter water hoses should be attached to a pipe/ali casting or whatever that has a slightly larger diameter "ring" near the end so that the hose clip tightens behind it. Just like the connections on the rad etc.
Try soldering some soft wire maybe around the tube or preferably use a tube with the hump swaged in it.
Phil.
