Hi All
I have the Jaguar rear axle on my Hawk fitted with inboard rear brakes.
Has anyone changed from this arrangement to outboard brakes as fitted on the later Jags?
Rear brake conversion?
Re: Rear brake conversion?
It's been done a few times.
It's half XJ6 and half XJ40.
Unless you can find a very late XJS axle that had outboards as standard. (Hens Teeth)
Talk to Ben at "Simply Performance"
He'll be able to supply every thing you need at a price of course.

Re: Rear brake conversion?
I've got external brakes on my Hawk with Jag back end.
As Kevin says XJ6 diff and XJ40 outboard carriers.

Re: Rear brake conversion?
The Jag set up I have uses shortened drive shafts and lower links and is similar width to an MGB Wire axle. I have hub adaptors from 5 bolt jag to 42mm 8tpi splined drive for wire wheels.

Re: Rear brake conversion?
That means when i would order a upgrade from amstrongs to normal suspension from for example Gerry, there is no difference?
Re: Rear brake conversion?
Has anyone fitted the Hawk/Hoyle IRS?
That has outboard brakes.
I'd be interested as I'd like to do that at some stage.

Re: Rear brake conversion?
Hawk/Hoyle IRS!! Now that is not for the faint of heart. It can't be fitted to a standard hawk chassis. It needs extensive rework and welding of the chassis to accomodate. Gerry explained it all to me once when I was considering it. Not really a runner unless you're prepared to dismantle the car and rework the chassis.

Jack.

Re: Rear brake conversion?
I looked into the Hoyles back end and decided on the Jag set up instead.
The Tubular wishbone front end needs some cutting and welding on the Hawk. I'd assume it would be similar on the BRA as the upper spring cups need clearance for the coil overs.
