If you log into the Members area from the homepage, click the 3 bars next to your username, then select “Members content”, in “Newsletters 1999-2009”, there is an article in the January 1999 edition about fitting sidescreens. 👍🏻

If I recall correctly, AC recommended not driving in excess of 120mph with the soft top up...😱

I can’t say that I agree with you on that Stuart. I find that driving with the hood up is a little too snug for comfort plus you have to have the windows slightly open to stop the misting up. I certainly use the side screens on their own when on the motorway as it cuts down the noise from other vehicles especially lorries.
Simon you will need to remember to release the drivers side windscreen clip before undoing the rear of the screen to fill with petrol. Thankfully most petrol stations have a roof over the pumps so you won’t get too much rain in. Main problem with the hood is water trickles in down both valleys on the rear deck.

nikbj68 - thanks for that Link - I would never have found it.
I should have most of it completed tomorrow, maybe trim just one side screen.

I'd like to thank you all for your guidance on fitting the sidescreens.
All done now. Tried it all out at 60mph and was pretty good. Nice and warm too.
Just a few tweaks needed to align the sidescreens.
I need some proper seats now as my head is in the roof.
Next job is new engine. Anyone have a 289/302 spare?

I'm having a go at trimming a bare frame myself, but can anyone tell me how the window channel for the perspex is set-up.
I just ordered some test pieces from Wolllies, but I think I've got it wrong in hindsight.

- I can see why trimming these professoinally is a tidy sum - window rubbers alone but be about £100 per side.

Gerry recommends carpet for the Perspex to run on. That’s what’s in mine. Seems to be a juggling act to get the sliding portions to slide but not be too loose.

The carpet I had was too thick.
I used 3mm felt from Woolies. Folded and glued once for the bottom (2.5 inches wide ) of the frame and twice for the top (3 inches wide). I.e. An inverted 'w'
You end up with a round nose on the inside and one thickness of felt on the outside of the sliding window and two at the top where there is no extra metal.

It doesn't show up well in photos.

I can only advise that mine were trimmed by Polyfacto who were Gerry's recommended trimmer at the time. The channels are covered with the thin cloth to match the hood and then some thin nylon? carpet glued into the bottom of both upper and bottom channels. There has been no attempt to make separate channels for each window. The window sections soon make their required grooves.
The fixed window is held firmly by the intermediate vertical strut.
