I’m going to be fitting the Fitech 30003 EFI system to my car later on this year.
This will entail fitting a high pressure fuel pump and a return flow to the fuel tank.
Obviously the FIA tank doesn’t have a return line fitted, so I’ll need to fit one. Would I be able to have an inlet welded on or can anyone see a problem with a return in the filler neck?

Simon, I don’t think that there is enough spare length to the filler neck if yours is anything like mine. It’s all taken up with the flexible. If you did find enough spare space then I would think that you need to ensure it is pointing down not potentially spraying onto the filler cap which is not intended to take fuel at any pressure.
To weld another inlet into the tank would mean thoroughly cleaning the tank e.g. 100% clear of any residue fuel.
When this subject came up previously I suggested, but didn’t investigate any further, the potential of adapting the connection used for the tank vent pipe. Maybe create a special T connection that screws into the top vent boss. The T adapter would need a pipe inside pointing downwards but still allow the tank to vent around that pipe and out to the vent pipe.

I went the extra mile and replaced the external pump with an intank. This setup already includes a return line connection.
System is of high quality, happy with it.

My setup uses the the top tank breather as the return. (8 stack EFI)
I managed to squeeze a a breather tapping into the spout of the filler cap.
I have to fit the filler cap through the body first and then screw in the breather tapping inside the boot.
Currently not running a swirl pot as the tank is quite small and baffled.
The pump is gravity fed from the lower tapping ( the pump is below the tank).
I'll re assess that when I can drive the car in anger.
I also deliberately set the fuel gauge to read empty early so I don't let the tank get too low.

Simon, do you already have an engine management system to connect to as I assume the FI carb needs the signals to operate correctly.
I only have an ignition amplifier to power up the distributor sensor so no ECU.
I think most of us run very basic systems.

Hi Simon, so do you just tap into the signal between the distributor proximity sensor and it’s amplifier pack.

Sounds about right Peter.
I had the FI Tech system on my Mustang 289.
I also had an MSD but I know you can run the FI from the dizzy, in fact I did IIRC.
I also used the FI Tech Command Centre on the that car. Basically a swirl pot with a built in pump and regulator.
You still need a return line to the tank though.
