Radiator mounting

Post by peterc »

Out of interest do others bolt their radiators in with any rubber bushing. It is perhaps inevitable that a radiator will cry enough after 20k miles of flexing bodywork even in the relative rigid Hawk shell.
The Barr’s leak Gerry recommended had resolved the issue for over 10 years but no I do not want to use that again.

I haven't had any bother with my waterworks in over fifteen years and over 45k miles. Bar's Leak is pretty old hat now. I used Forte Stop Leak and Conditioner in my old Range Rover a couple of years back when an O ring in the heater started to leak. Great results.

(If I'm not here I'm in my workshop or on the golf course!)

Thanks Clive, I have just ordered some Forte rad stop leak.
Discovered it’s coming from Dalkeith!
I thought it worth a punt before going the extra mile and taking the rad out for repair.

My radiator was 30 years old and had done 55,000 miles when I replaced it for an aluminium rad. There was nothing wrong with it I just felt I needed to upgrade the cooling system.
