Boot lock keys

Post by simonjrwinter »

My car didn’t come with keys for the boot lock. Does anyone know if they can be made from the numbers on the back of the lock or will I have to take it to a locksmith? (When open)

Mine had a number on the key insert and you can quote this to get a new key, if yours had this stamped on?

Ken, key insert?
Only numbers I have are shown. As far as I know, the barrel is crimped in place.

Simon, all my keys are two letters followed by three numbers.
So maybe your reference starting with H might be OK but suggest you take the lock to the locksmith whilst you have it ready to hand.

Simon, I mean the part that rotates when you turn the key, mine is the same as Peter's and the number is there, two letters followed by 3 numbers.

Just a thought. Have you tried the keys for the bonnet, fuel cap or glove box?
Cheers, Clive.
