Swaged nipples would do it too.
The solderless probably have a grub screw.

IMHO anything less than a factory fitted end is asking for trouble on a biblical scale.
A poorly fitted nipple that is under strength for the massive loading that a handbrake cable is capable of generating is risking, death, injury, loss of the car when an insurance company fails to pay out due to faulty equipment etc.
Is it really worth the risk ?

Don't know what construction you have. I made my own one using cables and M6 threaded bars.

And to connect a cable with the bar I used theses terminals:

At one side is has a M6 thread for the bar and on the other side you can push in the cable.

Works perfect, the cable is very tight with the help of 3 grub screws.

BTW

Driving a small car with big HP and a GRP or Aluminium skin is a risk from the beginning :-)

Try brazing Dave, I've done it in the past and it seems to work ok
