Switched 12v source

Post by simonjrwinter »

Can anyone tell me which outputs of the fusebox would give me a switched 12v source on run AND crank?
not at the car at the moment so can't test....Thanks

Fuel pump circuit.

Hello Simon,
Depends what you want to use it for.
What is the current? You don't (or I wouldn't) want to overload an important circuit.
The fuses and wiring would/should be optimised for their original use.
Losing the lights when you turn on your 1000 watt sub would be a problem at night. Or plugging and inverter into a lighter socket for your camping kettle?
On my Hawk, ('98 vintage):
Green is ignition switched fused 'live' (+ve)
White is the ignition switched 'live' (+ve), not fused.
You could come off the fuse box feed (White) and add another appropriately sized fuse for your new circuit. Or straight off the ignition switch, with a fuse.
I've used the White feed to the coil +ve to turn on my new ECU. The main current comes direct from the battery, via its own fuse and the coil is now fed from the ECU.
Greens are all over the rear of the dash if that's where you need it, just watch the current. Mine are fused 10A.
I always felt my fuel pump supply wire was too small any way with quite a volt drop when the pump was running.
Cheers,
Stu
