Gentlemen,
thoughts are turning to some final points on the build (I hope!) I don't have any method of measuring the various weights required i.e. laden mass of vehicle and front and rear axles. It's an Ace with 2.5 Triumph engine has anyone done this for their's?

you dont need to state these on the VIN plate.
VIN plate should only contain chassis number and manufacturer
Dont even put 'England' or 'UK' on the VIN plate - that was one of my many fails at Gillingham.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but way back when I SVA'd my car, the tester did all the weights.

You'll need axle weights for completing the IVA form to ensure they set up the brake test correctly,
But these should not be stated on the VIN plate, unless you use a clearly separate designated box for any other data other than the vehicle make and model and the chassis number.

When I had my SVA the tester advised me that I had made a mistake because I hadn’t added in 75kgs each for driver and passenger.
I obtained my axle weights by using a local weighbridge.

The axle weights on the VOSA certificate are the design weights of the vehicle not the actual weight of the vehicle, that is the maximum weight the axles are designed to carry when fully laden. In my case Jag IRs, Ford 302, the axle weights are 650 kg front, 750 kg rear and 1400 kg total. The actual total weight of the vehicle is 965 kgs

Clive, did those axle design weights come from Gerry?
You might have a Jag rear suspension but not Jaguar rated springs.
Just hunted out my MAC cert from the SVA and it shows 550/ 650 kgs but then as advised it was the tester that conjured up the weights needed to get my SVA.

Hi Peter, I can't honestly remember if Gerry gave me the weights or not, but imagine he would have.
Digging around I have looked out my 2005 Kit Car magazine supplement "Kit Cars and the Law" which was a great help when building as it gives a step by step guide to the SVA, which includes the filling in of forms etc and found this written by Dave Tanner of Pilgrim fame....
"Design Weights
The examiner will require the design weight of the vehicle and the front axle weight.
Analysis:
As suggested, this section ensures that your vehicle design is capable of carrying the intended maximum loads. The kit manufacturer will (we hope!) have already made these calculations and should have the information available. I've included an example calculation below, as it may be of use to those not building from full kits."
