For years I’ve been hoping that an Australian manufacturer would produce a 289 kit but to no avail  . Please tell me more about your kit. Where did you purchase it? How did you go importing it? Did you ever look at re-bodying a local made 427 kit with a 289 body?
What about Absolute Pace?? I'm quite sure they did a 289 FIA in the past.

Hello Andrew and monster7,

Firstly, apologies for non-reply to your posts. I haven't visited the 289 register for 'some time'.

So, "what about Absolute Pace??" Yes, my car is an AP car; it's the first one, the prototype I suppose, 289FIA in Australia. I'm in Adelaide, and the second 289FIA has been built in Queanbeyan (very close to Canberra). That second car uses a body made from the splash mould that was taken from my car. My car does have a chassis (all aluminium alloy semi-monocoque) that is very closely related to the AP 427. There are some subtle but significant differences between the 427 chassis and the 289FIA. My car has a significant amount of "local" input (ie mine) as there are some - shall I say, more authentic - details that I wanted to include that I had to source or manufacture myself. My car is significantly influenced by one of your local (English) Cobras, COB6008. That car has always been a favorite of mine....an FIA body direct from the AC factory, RHD as of course mine is, and Viking Blue (mine is, and COB6008 was, back some time ago).

Cheers!
Glen

I would like to add some build pictures of my car.
How do I add pictures to a post? Am I in the correct area of the forum?

Cheers,
Glen

It is, Migge. I thought I recognised your name.
I started this thread here on the 289 Register last year when Club Cobra was down for a month or so, and was looking like it was dead.
Here's my build story on Club Cobra if any here are interested in more detail...

That looks a pretty impressive suspension set up with the inboard dampers. Are you expecting to track day or race it?
Out of interest does the drivers seat go over the top of handbrake cables?
It would be interesting to know the final built up weight. My Hawk FIA weighs 1060 kegs with a Rover engine so add 75kgs for a Ford lump. The Hawk twin tube set up is most likely a chunk heavier than an Ali monocoque.
That weight is complete with spare wheel, fuel and trim. With your Ali tub you won’t need to cover it in carpet to hide it like we do our fibreglass.
