Hi Glen,
Yep, I can only think of about 6 or so 289 cars down under and half of those are real....
Everyone does think mine is real, so I do get quite a big head when I take it out.... :D
The owners of Penrite Oil have a beautiful red Ace, may have been the one you saw.
I would really love to see some progress pics when your able to post up !!!!

I saw Aarons car in the UK before his uncle (who I think built it) took it out to Aus. I have a photo of it somewhere. How are you Aaron?

Hey David
Long time no speak, hope your well and still getting your beast out ?
Still have all the pics you sent me, had the car over 5 years now (time flies) & doing lots to it.
Latest has been fitting a hawk bubble roof in matte black.
Which I have not taken off since fitting, I love it !

Great to hear from you. My 289 is well and seems happy. It is a youngster compared to your car. Mine is BRA no 56, but it has been on the road for 31 years. I do some things to it most years but nothing major and we go on a few road trips etc etc. For more serious touring I bought a Porsche 968 about 4 years ago.....my wife much prefers it to the Cobra. For serious speed fixes I have a Radical PR6 sports racing car in which I compete in sprints and hillclimbs.......I don't think I had that last time we were in contact.
Last year for me was a catastrophe for cars. I had to have a quadruple heart bypass operation in June which stopped me driving on the road briefly and stopped me driving the Radical considerably more than briefly. However I am now well recovered and I have my competition licence back for 2020 so I am out on a test day next Wednesday and first competitive event on March 22nd then I am looking forward to a full season of sprints/hillclimbs.
Best wishes,
David

Hey David,
Sorry to hear about the surgery, but glad to hear your on the mend...
Sounds like you have your hands full and a bit spoilt for choice...
Good luck with the radical on the 22nd, do you have a video/gopro or similar?
Love seeing on board action !

Hi Glen, I’m also a lover of the 289 cobras the 289FIA sure is a beautiful example. For years I’ve been hoping that an Australian manufacturer would produce a 289 kit but to no avail  . Please tell me more about your kit. Where did you purchase it? How did you go importing it? Did you ever look at re-bodying a local made 427 kit with a 289 body?
