Roger, certainly not interested in bling, just thought it would be protection for the edge of the grp with feet getting in and out.

It's not the top of the sill that gets damaged on my car, it's the front seat piping on the cushion that my feet keep rubbing when I get in and out. So much so that it is worn through.

0,8 mm aluminium bended 90°. You have to use the "soft" sort of aluminium. If you have already paint on the sill, you have to protect it with tape. You have to start at the front, that's the tighter bend. You can slowly bend the aluminium into shape because it is thin and soft. Don't "over" bend it. It will be a bigger problem to get it back in shape.
