Hawk fuel line - help needed

Just a quicky, when putting a pair of hose clips on, its better to make sure the clamp screws are opposite each other. Gives more even squeeze on the hose!

Hi Guys , I will ask Andrew to transfer these last few comments into a new posting of smelly boot issues. We have unfortunately taken over Richards query on fuel pipe length.

So my Cobra fuel inlet now has belt and braces and sealant.
I have duly stripped the assembly to double up on the jubilee clips as per Alan’s recommendation. On the FIA set up there is not very much space and I’m not 100% sure the 2nd clip doesn’t overhang the spigot. I guess it helps to maintain the hose shape and prevent it from having a gap that might allow fuel to seep into the joint especially on the tank spigot. Seemed sensible to re apply some petrol proof sealant as well.
For those of you with an FIA you will need to have the worm drive screw on the bottom most clip nearest to the centreline of the car otherwise it will foul the tank retaining strap.
So boot now closed properly so will test in a couple of days.
It’s got two chances as they say. Can’t be any worse than it was.
Had I got them in stock I might have used the Mikalor bolt action hose clip which is 50% wider than a jubilee. They can also be clamped a lot tighter and have a nice curved shield where the bolt is to maintain the clips curvature.
I’ll let you know the outcome.
If it works Alan I’ll owe you a couple of pints as that smell has been irritating me for three years or more.

On a slightly related issue... my boot only had the slightest whiff, until I filled a jerry can and kept it in there - then it really stank. The jerry can was clean and the top was on tight.

Sorry to say that doubling up on the jubilee clips has not cured the problem.
I think I will change the breather pipe just in case.

In the end I decided to get a new hose made up that's just the right length and doesn't have the superfluous filter. Thanks to a suggestion from Ferngar, I dropped in on the good people at HEL Performance and they made it on the spot.

The new route is nice and simple, with good clearance and easy positioning of the P clips.
