You never told me that Paul when I took it out at Bruntingthorpe!
I didn't say can't or don't Colin, just that I rarely do. It should be well within it's comfort zone at 6,000 rpm.

A proper 427 will rev much higher than a standard FE because it is well over-square and has a much stronger block, cross-bolted mains and forged steel crank to keep it all together. The 427 with Tunnel Port heads and intake will rev to 9,000 rpm so I'm told, as would the SOHC, which shares the same block and bottom end.

You've noticed that too? :)

Under moderate load at around 2,500-3,000 rpm, mine sounds just like a Spitfire I think. 8)

Having installed a steel Scat crank and rods during my rebuild I have a self imposed red line of 7200, but the bottom end is supposed to be safe to 8500rpm
