Hawk FIA Coupe at Vintage and Prestige

Post by Marsh »

Does anyone know who's car this is? It is known to the Club?

I'm not sure if this car is owned by Vintage and Prestige, or the owner has placed it with them for a commission sale, but it's an interesting car.

If anyone knows this car, or a little more about it, I'd be very interested to hear from them.

Used to belong to ex-member Marcus Price. It was the race spec' 'Yellow Peril', but since has been tweaked and painted. The price has risen rapidly since Marcus sold it. There's some more discussion about this car on another thread, from when it was up for sale last year.

This one?

Originally yellow and owned by a member of the 289 Register it is a bespoke car with many features not seen on a normal Hawk. Probably better for track use than every day road use.

Looks like the one built by Graham Fry for sprints. As the description says the specification developed rather a lot during its build. Graham got a bit carried away from just wanting the benefit of a Ford engine but with a lighter independent rear axle in lieu of the normal Jag.
A fine car but as Clive says probably a little extreme for general road use. Lots of bare Ali to vibrate and allow the transmission noise through.
Not surprised at the price.

That's the one chaps.

There seems to be some previous coverage of this on the forum, but I can't see exactly where. I'm aware there has been a predictable upward trajectory on price to its' current rather punchy £59k and I would be interested to see how this has increased, if I am to be forewarned and indeed forearmed.

I'm mindful of it's potentially 'lively' current specification, but there are elements of it that I'm finding myself rather drawn to and if the price wasn't the current price then...

...Luckily, I'm not quite in a position to move forward right at this moment, which is probably a good job as I'm already picturing what I'd do to it if it was in the Marshall garage.

For those of you who were in your cars on Mr Blore's lawn last Saturday, this is all your fault!

Not sure of exact figures but previous owner sold for circa £45k (as this was the old asking price) ... a week or so later current trade had it up for £59k :-)
