WANTED: Spare car or leisure battery

Post by amulheirn »

This is for a project I am working on for the club, rather than for me. Does anyone have a spare battery they don't need? Preferably someone reasonably local to me so I can collect - Farnham.

My plan to use the Optima battery hasn't worked out - the thing just won't hold charge.

I have a couple of of batteries from my Mother’s mobility scooter which you are welcome to. They held charge when I replaced them a couple of months ago but I’ll check they’re still OK. I am in Teddington.

Best Wishes DavidA

Hi David -

That sounds like a possible solution - thanks. Can you tell me how many amp-hours each one is? And physical dimensions too if possible - I've already built a box for the Optima that turned out to be duff, so just wondering if they'll fit in what I've already made. I imagine they're smaller.

Thanks!
Andy

They’re 18ah(20hr) 12v sealed rechargeable lead acid batteries.
Dimensions each 18mm wide, 17mm high, and 7.5mm deep.
Currently on charge

Thanks David - that sounds ideal. I’m making a ‘digital sign’ for use at club events where there is no power, and calculate that I need about 30ah to run the load for 10 hours.

If you think they’re holding charge ok I might come and get them if that’s ok?
