Re: Possible Sale- Hawk 289 Cobra FIA

Dear Si,

As Stu and others can testify to, we all reach the point you have. It took me 13 years in total. Just to feed my addiction I bought and sold another 3 Cobras during the build. I drive a Kirkham 289 now (its currently top of the Events section on the Home page) and, including the one I built, this is my 9th Cobra in total. As you can imagine, I know a thing or 2 about buying and selling them (and this is as well as 2 years earlier in my life buying and selling sports cars professionally for John Britten Garages).

The challenge you may find trying to sell on UK websites and specialist mags (unless they have sizable international readership) is the fact that it's unfinished, unregistered and left hand drive. I think you will struggle to reach £20k, despite the obvious attention to detail. Here's my two-penniworth...of course I have no idea of your financial situation but if you can afford to, you should try to find a reputable small restoration or race car prep business to finish it for you. You should be able to negotiate staged payments. I could recommend at least two people to talk to, but they're down here. Others may have other recommendations.

If you do find a buyer however and they don't want your seats, please PM me!

Good luck,
Colin

It’s certainly not as good as it was yesterday. I ordered the wheels and spinners today from Gerry, and the tyres from Avon. :?

I guess I’ve just got to take a deep breath and dig in.

As you were folks.

Sometimes Si, a gentle kick up the arse is all that's needed. Now come on...get on with it!

Will do.

Although I’m loath to go out into the cold workshop at the moment, I guess i’ll Just keep gathering parts for the final push. The list is now much shorter.
