Hawk 289 gearbox

Post by Captainchris1968 »

New to the scene and hoping to use a Cosworth T5 gearbox with a Rover engine in a new Hawk 289
Anyone hear of any issues with this set up- it already has the Rover bell housing on the box
Perhaps gear linkage set too far back requiring adaptation? Mountings etc...
Any information greatly appreciated

Frank Gruwel has a TVR engine and a T5 in his BRA.
If you joined the club you could access his mail address and send him a mail. Also you get the club magazine and access to old technical info! :D

Yes i have a TVR engine 4.3 Ltr and a T5 very happy with it. its lighter as a Ford and 300Hp is for me enough. had in my other 427 Souther roadcraft a 351 cleveland tuned to 450 Hp, lightweight build up, alum heads, lightweight flywheef alumiunium waterpump rvs headers. but still its just to heavy with warm weather and an emergency stop u are mising the 10 mtrs :D :D :D

There was a Cosworth T5 and a Rover - T5 bellhousing on eBay earlier this week I'm sure.

I've been looking out for T5 with a 302 bellhousing.
Starting to look like one from the USA is the way forward.

Thanks Stu,
I've been debating if it's worth paying the extra for Z spec one or not (slightly stronger and longer 1st gear at 2.95)
I have my eye on a World Class refurbed with bell housing etc.
At cheaper money.
It'll be behind a 302 with around 350 Bhp.
Or a 347 stroker depending on my final spec and where I put my engine of choice.
