Thankfully it's now sold and hopefully not to a club member. DVlA are now tightening their rules, and this is now affecting the cars we can use as a donor. When a purchaser now buys a vehicle that is classed as historic, they COULD be asked to provide photos of the car to prove that it is the vehicle on the V5C. They ask for photos of both sides, front and rear, VIN tag with original rivets, interior with a floor mat lifted, engine bay complete with engine, boot with the boot carpet lifted, plus a few others. The reason they ask for such unusual photos is because they cant be " lifted" from Google images.
It's very much a lottery as to whether the new owner will be asked for these photos, as it seems to be carried out on a random basis. If DVLA suspect that the car is not complete or roadworthy, they will send out a company called SGS to inspect the car. If it isnt ALMOST roadworthy, DVLA will not issue a V5C until it is, and can be proven to be so.
This is now being enforced to stop people cloning cars identities, or putting unsafe historic vehicles that dont require an MOT on the road. I know of quite a few people that have been caught like this, having bought an incomplete car and failed to get a V5.
