I am that new buyer....and you're right, the winner is the auction house.
I'm a private owner, having owned/built/rebuilt various component cars over the years: JBA Falcon, Dax Cobra, Westfield XI, Ram D-type and an RCR GT40. I've always admired the more restrained lines of the Hawk. I also have a modern Bullitt Mustang.
I'm now embarked upon a little fettling and looking forward to driving the Hawk this summer.

Congratulations! Looks like a nice one.
I don’t understand why the buyer decided to put it to auction rather than list it on here or one of the other classified sites. I didn’t even find it for sale until it was too late and I look quite frequently!

This car was advertised on this forum under For sale/wanted on February 1st 2021. With no takers the auction was his quickest option of a sale I imagine.
