Helper Springs for Jag IRS
Any recommendations for Jag IRS helper springs. I need to drop the rear of mine by about an inch.

Re: Helper Springs for Jag IRS
Is it not easier to fit shorter main springs?
I have the same problem on my Sebring.
I'm waiting to see how it settles once on the road.

Re: Helper Springs for Jag IRS
Well, helper springs are just for preventing the too short main spring getting loose when you get a full drop of the wishbone.
Dave, do you mean bump stops?

If you want to get the rear higher and if you have adjustable coil overs, why not just turn the ring a few times?

Re: Helper Springs for Jag IRS
Hi guys,
To lower my Jag rear suspension I needed to wind the spring platform down to the last two threads. This achieved a three fingers gap between tyre and wheel arch edge. However that then meant that the spring could become loose at full suspension droop when jacked up (or giving it max over a hump backed bridge). The flimsy spring (circa 4 lbs rating ) expands to hold the spring in its correct place. I purchased mine from Merlin Motorsport.
You can just see a tiny bit of blue at the base of the far spring. They are fitted to all 4.

Re: Helper Springs for Jag IRS
They look exactly the same as the Merlin website. I’m convinced mine weren’t 4” long though. More like 1” or maybe 1.5” at most. You don’t need much to take up the slack.

Re: Helper Springs for Jag IRS
Just thinking, is it better to put helper springs in, or just buy main springs that are an inch or two longer. I know that the spring rate over the entire length will be different but feels like that's logically the right answer.

I think you mean shorter springs Dave?
If you go longer you just end up too high again?
I was thinking maybe an inch shorter.
