I've just taken the first step towards a 289 build by buying an engine. A 302 for refurbing.
Well, actually, no. I haven't bought it yet, but the cheque's in an envelope on the stand in the hall, along with the rest of the mail and will soon be in the post.
(If you see this Roger!).
I am so badly prepared for this project but hey ho.
So, the first thing I need is a stand for the engine.
Any recommendations.
Or do you have one you no longer need?
John

Re: Engine stand
What's wrong with the stand you already have? (The one in the hall that the cheque is on.)

Cheers, Clive.

Whatever made you think there was something wrong with it!
Might be a little "distressed" here and there, but on the whole it's in good nick.

Re: Engine stand
John,
one of these should do the trick - not too pricey.

Re: Engine stand
I went for one smaller than the one Roger suggests owing to space in the shed.
I know it's probably on the limit but I had a 289 on it with cast iron water pump and cast iron heads, no problem. It did need a bit of WD 40 to help with rotating it. But fine none the less.

Re: Engine stand
Probably OK. I bought the bigger one as its first use was for a Jensen Interceptor block (Chrysler 440 Magnum). Bit heavier than a 302.StewbieC wrote:I went for one smaller than the one Roger suggests owing to space in the shed.

Thinks... wonder if I could get one in my Mini? Pause for audience applause... not a sausage...

Re: Engine stand
Hi John,
I've got a couple of bits left over from my 289 build that you may be interested in like an unused Chrome alternator bracket and a chrome dipstick and tube both still in the packaging. If you are interested let me know and I'll knock up a list
