Forward braced roll hoop

Were these only ever fitted to the FIA cars in period? Can’t say I’ve ever seen a 427 with one….

As far as I know the forward braced roll over hoop was only fitted to 289’s. The 427 had a rear braced one.

I suspected that was the case

I note that this example was the first 427 and whilst big arched still retained the 289 sized grill opening.

Absolutely and I’m sure there were quite a few other items to cope with the 427’s power.
Once they got racing and bits continued to break the chassis tubes got bigger for a start.
